don't forget to look for new text

Norlia, I edited my earlier posts to answer your comments. don't forget to look at the stuff below a second time to get some new info.

new chase center

these shots are of the new chase center. its not open yet. you can't see signs of construction around it because I shot around them. it's in the space where there used to be a parking lot, next to the metcalf building. at least I think it's the metcalf building. we used to walk through that parking lot to get to the snake pit. the pit's gone now, too. they took it out to make room for a hallway and put in a big and expensive cafeteria in the hospital trust building. I have pictures of that, too; the space where the pit used to be, not the new cafeteria.

this is a view from benefit street down between the museum and the place where the mail room used to be. that's moved, too, down next to the store now. so this used to be the very steep, black, metal staircase down to the snake pit. this may technically be an improvement but I really miss the old one. I thought having a little moment of fear was a good thing when walking around campus.

and this shot is taken from where the snake pit used to be, I think. at least I looked through a door and saw something I think was in the hallway behind the snake pit when I was walking through here.

more views of market house

here is market house from south main street. look at those giant trees! you can see market square on the right side. and a big tree on either side.

hier is a photo of the left side of the building. so I am standing in between market house and the big tree on the extreme left of the photo above this one when I took this photo.

here is another photo of area but from the bottom of college street, this time.

today there is this bamboo garden sitting area on the side of market house near the river. it looks inviting, doesn't it?

here is Roger Williams and downtown Providence from the park on Congdon Street.

yes, it is the same park. we should not dwell on how we're not young like we were. one day we will lok back and think we were young now.

2 views on or near south main street in the early morning. love that light. The tree is in the tiny park just next to Market House on the Southern side. it never looked that good when we were in school. the building shot is the store and the design center. can you read the stone on the wall? it says Cheapside!

for sure, you know this place. I was standing just next to market house when I took it. if I were to swivel a little bit to the right you would see the edge of market house on the right edge of the screen. I will try to find another photo of this spot where market house shows so you get the point. but it is so different from what it was that it's no surprise that you don't recognize it.

now that's the risd I remember!

this photo is taken on waterman street just near south main. the museum is up the hill on benefit street. they built a new wing that doesn't exactly reach out to waterman street but does get pretty close to it in between the waterman building and carr house.
